Bosco Update March 12, 2010 Bosco and Maisy riding in the dog Limo.
Finally I get to send an update with great news!
Bosco took a ride in his new limo (a used minivan I bought to get him to and from appointments - MUCH easier than trying to get him into the SUV) on Tuesday for his first chemo treatment and staple removal. He was SO excited to go for a ride that he was trying to open the door to get out of the house and had the biggest smile on his face the entire ride. Once we got to the hospital he couldn't get out fast enough to run around the grounds outside and pee and poop on everything. He was excited to see everyone there once we got inside too. He was acting like Bosco for the first time since the surgery. It was wonderful to see.
Once we got home and he got out of the van, he started to head down the street to go for a walk. I wasn't sure if he was allowed to do that yet so I got him back in the house and after talking to the doctor and getting the OK, we went for a short walk and he did GREAT! We didn't go too far because I was worried if he got too tired out I wouldn't be able to get him home. We'll work up to longer as he can tolerate it. That walk changed his whole attitude. He has been so much happier and is now getting up and moving around the house more, following me around and even using the doggie door. I am amazed at how he's adjusting. He still eats in bed (standing at his food bowls still gets him too tired) and hopefully after this weekend he won't need to be confined when I'm not home. Waiting to hear from the doctor sometime today to find out about that.
He has so far tolerated the chemo just fine. They said it can take up to five days after treatment to see any reaction but so far so good. He's been a real trooper and I'm so incredibly proud of him. I can't tell you how happy I am to be sending good news and how much I appreciate all of your support. It's been a rough ordeal but I think we're finally on the other side. We love you all!!
